I can't say Steve and I were close friends but we did hang out a good amount of times especially at Duff's and of course at many concerts.

His no nonsense no bullshit attitude on the boards was no different than he was off the boards. But when you were his friend, you were a friend for life. Everytime we saw each other, I always got a big hug and a peck on the cheek from him. That went for all his friends. He was the most down to earth, most real person I ever met. Good, bad or indifferent, you always knew where you stood with Steve. I think that is a great quality more people should possess. He had a heart of gold.

If there was anybody who personified the word metal, it was Steve.
He was metal in every sense of the word. Many of us talk the talk, myself included but he really walked the walk. Everything about him is metal. Looks, attitude and love for the music.

As the article said, his greatest legacy is he leaves behind is his daughters. I had the pleasure of meeting his daughters at his home about 6 or 7 years ago. Having a father with a rough exterior and rough attitude, with his bald, tattooed head, ugly beard and scowl, one would think his daughters would be a chip off the old block. No doubt, I am sure they are tough little gals. But they were also sweethearts. They were very respectful and soft spoken. Steve was a great dad.

I am really going to miss the fucker. Hopefully, if there is something after this life, I will get to hang with him again!!!

Rest in peace, brother and hope to see you again on the other side

We all will gather there one day, Nick! I do not know him very well, but I have seen a lot of pictures and stories about his daughters and wife, from which I can say he was a great father! Plus, he was a great person! I am shocked! Only 45 year old! Not fair!

I can think of worse ways to die. It's awful that he died so young and was taken away from his family.

I was not best friends with this guy by any means. We sparred verbally more than once on the Q back in the day I don't think it was ever really serious, that being said the amount of people that turned out to say something in tribute to his passing is unbelievable and that is a total testament to his life and the kinda person he was It bothers me deeply that this guy is gone.
